Google Sites
When Dr Moore first asked us to create a Google site my initial reaction was one of annoyance, yet another website to try and maintain. To my surprise Google sites are easy, fun, and simple to maintain, yet still retain the flexibility of some of the more complex html features. I like Google Sites so much that I’ve now reconfigured my entire webification project to be based around it.
To begin with I decided to keep the layout simple, I’ve seen too many sites that are ruined by busy and over designed sites. Google Sites accommodate this by providing themes that keep the information organised and flowing in a functionable manner.
I decided to make this first site my personal website, Dr Moore advertised this as our online ‘CV’. I added pages to the site that include ‘About’, ‘Links’, ‘Uni’, and ‘Work’. I chose these pages because they represent all the main parts of my life as well as representing me in a modern and fashionable manner.
For instance, in ‘Links’ I included details about all of my contact availabilities, i.e social networking and email addresses. In ‘Work’ Ive included work related email and contact phone numbers.
After getting used to using the Google Sites set up and menu system, I created a second site, this will now be the basis for the rest of my webification project which I’ve restarted with ‘A deconstructed. Experiment’.
