So far I’ve identified three key areas in which my blog needs to address to be a succesful, informative, and entertaining site. These are interactivity, constant flow of information, and appropriate content.
1. Interactivity: This was the hardest area to address as I dont particularly want to open up the blog to posts from the public but nor do I want to seem like a completely non-interactive, boring site. I’ve thought about vote polling, encouraging reader comments and the ability to suggest bands for feature on the blog. Still undecided which way to go, if any.
2. Constant Flow of Information: This is easy to address, just update the blog frequently. However I didnt want to post the same thing day after day, because after a month I would’ve gotten bored of it, and so would the ‘readers’. So therefore I decided to adopt a weekly routine of posts, viewable here. Hopefully this will keep things fresh and interesting.
3. Appropriate Content: Following on from point 2, it would be negative for my blog to have the same content day in day out. Therefore I decided from the start to include pictures, video and audio spread throughout the blog posts and schedule. I also thought that having themed weeks would make the content seem more original and positive. For instance-focusing on the Unearthed High nominees. Other themes I’ve come up with include city vs city, and genre.
Myspace: Originally Myspace was a really easy addition to have. Easy to find bands and add them as friends etc. etc. However, after a while I found that it was just complicating things, so I decided to leave Myspace alone for the moment.
